Lot & Wire

Terms of Use

Effective November 6, 2026

These Terms govern your use of the Lot & Wire website and planning tool at lotandwire.com (the "Service"). By using the Service you agree to these Terms. If you don't agree, please don't use the Service.

1. What the Service is

Lot & Wire is a free, browser-based planning aid. It helps you sketch where a house sits on a lot and where low-voltage and related items might go, such as Wi-Fi access points, cameras, network drops, speakers, conduit and outlets. It also produces reports you can share.

2. Planning only — not professional advice

The Service is not electrical, engineering, architectural, surveying, legal or code-compliance advice. Results are estimates, including coverage maps, camera views, cable lengths, wire gauges, switch and PoE sizing, setbacks, lot lines, septic and pool placement, and sun paths. They are based on simplified models, manufacturer datasheets and public records that may be incomplete, outdated or wrong.

Before you build, buy or install anything, have a licensed electrician, contractor or other qualified professional verify the work. Also confirm everything with your builder and your local building authority, including the National Electrical Code as adopted locally, permits, HOA rules and utility requirements. Lot lines shown by the Service are not a survey.

3. Your plans and data

The Service runs in your browser. Files you upload (site plans, floor plans, plant lists) and the projects you create are processed on your device and saved where you choose. We don't receive or store them. You're responsible for keeping your own copies. Some features send limited information to third-party services, such as an address to look up its location, or lot coordinates to find parcel lines. See the Privacy Policy.

Only upload plans you have the right to use. You keep all rights to your plans and projects.

4. Acceptable use

Don't use the Service to break the law, to infringe anyone's rights, or to disrupt the Service or the third-party services it relies on. Automated bulk use, scraping, or reselling the Service isn't permitted without written permission.

5. Third-party services and brands

The Service uses third-party map, address-lookup, parcel and code services, each with its own terms. Their availability and accuracy are outside our control. Product and company names are trademarks of their owners and are used only to identify compatible equipment. Lot & Wire is not affiliated with or endorsed by any manufacturer.

6. Voluntary support

The Service is free. If we offer a way to tip or support the project, any contribution is a voluntary, non-refundable gift. It doesn't buy goods, services, features, support or any special treatment. Contributions are not tax-deductible.

7. Ownership of the Service

The Service, its code, design and content are owned by Lot & Wire and protected by copyright. All rights reserved. You may use the Service and the reports you create for your own projects, including sharing them with your builder and contractors.

8. No warranty

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE," WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED. THIS INCLUDES ACCURACY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, MERCHANTABILITY AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. We don't promise the Service will be error-free, uninterrupted or available at any particular time, and we may change or discontinue it.

9. Limitation of liability

TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, LOT & WIRE AND ITS OWNER WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES. THIS INCLUDES CONSTRUCTION COSTS, REWORK, EQUIPMENT PURCHASES, LOST DATA, PROPERTY DAMAGE OR INJURY ARISING FROM YOUR USE OF OR RELIANCE ON THE SERVICE. OUR TOTAL LIABILITY FOR ANY CLAIM IS LIMITED TO THE GREATER OF THE AMOUNT YOU VOLUNTARILY CONTRIBUTED IN THE PRIOR 12 MONTHS OR US $50.

10. Indemnity

You agree to hold Lot & Wire and its owner harmless from claims arising from your use of the Service, the plans you upload, or work performed based on your plans.

11. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Texas, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Any dispute will be resolved in the state or federal courts located in Williamson County, Texas.

12. Changes

We may update these Terms. The effective date above shows the latest version. Continuing to use the Service after a change means you accept the updated Terms.
